Couple & Relationship Therapy

Feeling alone in your relationship? Having the same fight over and over again? Not able to connect like you used to? Let’s work together.

Our world is made up of relationships. Be that relationships with intimate partners, parents, friends, plants, animals, and social-political systems; they are complex and ever-changing. Through this systemic approach, I specialize in couples and relational systems looking to improve communication patterns to deepen their connection.

As a trauma specialist, I work with many couples in which one or more partners has a history of trauma, stemming from caregivers in childhood or other past relationships. Through a slow, intentional, and compassionate approach, we will explore where trauma still lives in the body and find the patterns in the relationship that keep current conflict cycles in place. Whether or not trauma is part of your experience, I approach all couples and relational systems through a trauma-informed lens, which allows me to help clients access their deepest needs from a place of safety and trust. I practice attachment-based Emotionally-Focused Couples Therapy in which I have advanced training, and Internal Family Systems based therapy, Intimacy From the Inside Out.

I have additional expertise in sex therapy, issues with intimacy, queer couples and relationships, couples entering parenthood/prenatal/postpartum, challenges between adults and their parents, non-monogamy, polyamorous systems, and sibling dynamics.

Specializing in areas of complex trauma, anxiety, life transitions, early parenthood, chronic pain/illness, and forms of disenfranchised grief, I support clients in discovering the parts of themselves that have been waiting to be seen and heard. Through a compassionate and collaborative presence, you can expect our work to be creative and deepening of the ways you understand all parts of yourself, assisting you in building a greater sense of safety and security within yourself and your relationships. I believe that through building safety for exploration within the therapeutic container, clients gain access to tools that guide them toward a greater sense of connection.

Therapy for New & Expecting Parents

Illustration of two people in a garden with plants, trees with purple fruits, and large flowers, sunny sky, and a cloud.

The journey into parenthood is vulnerable and profound. Those on this path are often met with reflection of their own upbringing, the things they wish were different, and how they hope to parent differently from the ways they were parented. Some are held captive by anxiety about the health of their baby, the changes in their relationships, the transitions felt in their own body, and shifting priorities.

This part of my practice focuses on working with individuals and couples from pregnancy through the first few years of parenting. Couples have a unique opportunity to explore communication, intimacy, shared grief & joy, and navigate challenges together by engaging in couples therapy during this time. Individuals can benefit from having a safe space to call your own each week here in therapy. However you attend, I am happy to provide flexible, client-centered care to meet you and your growing family where you are at.

Many of us walk into parenthood with our own inner child still needing to be heard and seen. In the midst of caring for your baby, it is important not to forget caring for yourself and your relationships. I see supporting new and expecting parents as foundational to all aspects of health and wellness. Why? Because being parented by a person who is able to meet with and tend to their own emotions, engage in healthy relationships, identify their own patterns, and cultivate a greater sense of connection within themselves and their relationships is setting the stage for their child to have the tools to do the same. Parents have the opportunity to actively stop and transform intergenerational trauma. This transformation begins within.

When we put in our own work to help ourselves feel safe and secure, we create environments for unconditional love in our own bodies, relationships, with our children, and in the world. I would be honored to walk with you on this incredible journey.

My work affirms, uplifts, and celebrates every parent and family structure - queer, trans, straight, blended, chosen, and beyond. You are valued and supported here.

inner child care for prenatal & postpartum parents

If you are a new or expecting parent who has a desire to parent differently from the way you were parented, I designed this group for you.

The care you give your inner child shapes the way you show up for your own

Parenthood can set off sirens for ones inner child who still needs nurturing from wounds left untended to by caregivers in your childhood. This group will support you in processing this experience while building skills for caring for your inner child so you can be your most present self with the new child in your life.

Group members are encouraged to slow down and notice how wounding lives in the body and where we can tend to these wounds to encourage more regulated, connected, and confident parenting inside and out.

Clients can join group individually or as a couple.

If you are in the postpartum stage, let’s face it…its hard to go anywhere without your baby! Babies under one year are always welcome. Older babies are encouraged to be in the care of a trusted caregiver while you are in session due to the emotional content explored in the space.
